EmploymentCrossing Lists More Than 120,000 Jobs in California Even as the State's Unemployment Rate Hits 6.9%
Pasadena, CA, July 22, 2008 -- Even as California's jobless rate crept to a five-year high on Friday, EmploymentCrossing, one of the world's leading job boards, boasted of a whopping 129,355 jobs in California in its database.
/Employment - Careers News Articles/ - PASADENA, CA - July 25, 2008 - About 65% of the 191,751 jobs posted last week on EmploymentCrossing are located in California.
With the advent of a recession, EmploymentCrossing has vowed to double its efforts in searching for jobs for everyone, from the entry-level college graduate to the executive, from every job website in the US.
Reportedly, California lost 12,800 jobs in June. According to state unemployment figures released by Beacon Economics, a Los Angeles consulting firm, the worst decline was in government worker positions in the state, which fell by 6,000 jobs. Business and manufacturing jobs were also reduced by 5,200 and 4,400 jobs, respectively. Other sectors like IT, retail trade, and television have suffered comparatively less with an average loss of about 2,500 jobs. California has lost a total of 15,132,300 jobs over the recession period.
"California is continuously experiencing unemployment problems as the jobless rate is now 1.6% higher than it was in June 2007," says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of EmploymentCrossing. "This is the worst level since October 2003, according to data from the state Employment Development Department."
Barnes adds, "EmploymentCrossing uses a highly trained research staff and technology to track down every job from every employer. The site continuously monitors the websites of every job board and employer website to provide job seekers with quality jobs that match their interests."
According to recent reports from EmploymentCrossing, the following sectors had the most jobs in California:
• Managerial (20,538 jobs)
• Information technology (16,924 jobs)
• Engineering (13,496 jobs)
• Accounting (8,209 jobs)
• Blue-collar (7,792 jobs)
"With a highly trained team of researchers who personally screen each and every job posted on EmploymentCrossing's portals, EmploymentCrossing seeks out, edits, approves, and tracks an elite collection of jobs on an ongoing basis," Barnes says. "EmploymentCrossing is not for everyone -- we are exclusive and private, and only members have access to our job-opening research."
Unlike other job boards that simply herd masses of job listings without looking back, EmploymentCrossing ensures quality and accuracy to prevent users from wasting time with outdated or filled jobs. The site's research staff searches nearly 8,000 job boards and around 250,000 employer websites for jobs every day. Additionally, the number of jobs on the site is expected to receive a major boost in the coming days.
